It’s our belief that education and learning is integral when creating systems and environment that support our well-being.

So we offer multiple avenues to share what we know. Individuals can access training through the Healthy Pour Institute, organizations hire us to teach private classes and workshops, and we offer classes to the community at large.

Our Core Classes

These core classes make up the Healthy Pour Primed Certification and are available:

  • Our most foundational course offers an overview of what's happening in the industry to cause issues around mental health & well-being. Students will gain a better understanding of mental health and how systems and traditions contribute to (or block) our ability to thrive.

  • Stress can be a problem, and the word has become a catch-all term for our experience at work. In this course, you'll learn about what stress is, how it can help us, and what we can do to adequately cope with our stress so we can learn, grow, and not be so on edge all the time!

  • For too long, this industry has subscribed to the idea that emotions aren't welcome at work - but they're a gift! In this course, we'll learn about emotional intelligence, literacy, and agility, and how these skills will not only help you in the workplace, but in your daily life as well.

  • Talking about our emotional lives is important and sometimes even lifesaving, but it can be tough. In this course, we'll discuss boundaries, consent, and compassion when talking about our own mental health and the mental health of those we love and care about.

  • Alcohol misuse is a problem in this industry. Drinking excessively is culturally normalized, glorified, and largely uncontrolled. In this course we'll talk about our relationship with alcohol, why it's so complicated, and offer ways to approach the relationship more mindfully.

  • Imagine work where we can make mistakes, share ideas, provide feedback. and be yourself without fear of retaliation or abuse. In this course, we'll learn more about what psychologically safe workspaces are, what they aren't, and how we can foster them in our industry.

  • Emotional Intelligence in Leadership

    While emotional intelligence is an extraordinary skill to have, it's even more integral for those in leadership positions (formally or not) to be able to regulate and read their emotional lives. This course is specific to managers, owners, leaders, and emerging leaders.

  • Imposter Syndrome & Oppression at Work

    Imposter syndrome occurs when marginalized individuals have experienced oppressive workspaces, internalized that oppression, then doubt their own competencies. This course examines how the workplace can prevent and help heal imposter syndrome.

    Hiring practices in the industry are varied; some being more structured, others are about relationships and networking. But what is fair? How does it impact feelings of belonging? Our communities? This course provides considerations to take when hiring and building a team.

    While the healing of mental health issues are the responsibility of the individual, the workplace has a responsibility to be a space where people can thrive. This course is designed for leaders who want to create a safer workspace for their teams and themselves.

    Work-life balance is tough in this industry because our boundaries around our time, identities, roles, and relationships make it challenging to know where work stops and begins. This course helps to better understand boundaries to live a more balanced life.

    By and large, this industry falters when fostering career development and growth, resulting in too many people floundering, not reaching their potential, or leaving. This course provides a map of how to cultivate development within organizations and professional communities.

  • Creating a Culture of Feedback

    Collecting, providing, and addressing feedback is an integral process that contributes to increased psychological safety, reduced burnout, more effective goals, and higher retention, but feedback can be tough! This course helps to get you started.

  • Understanding Burnout in the Industry

    Burnout is often regarded as when we reach our breaking point with stress, but it's much more insidious than that: it's social emotional stress resulting from cut-throat and exploitive cultures. Uuuff. This course dives into burnout with offerings of how to break the cycle.

  • Compassion vs Self-Criticism for Creatives

    Whether we would call ourselves creatives or not, working in a creative industry can come with a lot of pressure. This course examines the self-criticism and perfectionistic tendencies in this industry, and how cultivating compassion can be the key to growth.

  • Mindfulness & Our Work

    Mindfulness is a buzzword that is associated with industrialized meditation, yoga, and the wellness, but it's actually a very helpful practice to improve the health of a workspace. This seminar discusses mindfulness and how it can help ignite change.

  • Emotions are the Heart of Hospitality

    A "Part II" to our emotional intelligence courses, this seminar discusses the role our emotions and feelings of connection plays when providing hospitality, and reframes and challenges the guest's responsibility in the hospitable experience.

  • The Effects of Workplace Trauma

    Workplace trauma has a profound impact on someone's mental health and well-being, as well as their ability to thrive and flourish. This course explores the emotional and behavioral patterns that might seem "normal," but have emerged from the trauma and abuse at work.

  • Employee Relations & Expectations

    The quality of the manager/employee relationship is a strong predictor of well-being, retention, and engagement, so what can we do to ensure it's healthy and not strained? This course discusses how to engage effectively to promote healthy working relationships.

  • Adopting a Growth Mindset at Work

    The way we approach obstacles and challenges have profound impact on how we work to overcome them and how we respond when we fail. this course discusses the differences between growth and fixed mindsets, and why we should accept the gift of failure with open arms.
