making mental health a priority in the food & beverage industry through collective action

the hospitality industry is experiencing a severe mental health crisis. to address it, we all have to work together.

this requires a collective shift.

after enduring over a year of tremendous uncertainty, it's become abundantly clear that changes need to happen in the hospitality community. we see it, we recognize it, we know change has to happen, but where to begin?

the healthy pour collective shift is a program designed to educate the hospitality community on a massive level about mental health and well-being so individuals can learn more about themselves, how to care for each other, and share a common language around well-being.

but it's challenging to make such brave changes alone, so this program is designed for the entire community to engage in all at once, collectively.

The goal of the collective shift is to train as many people as quickly as possible. To achieve this, up to 20 groups can for a “collective” and share the cost of training.

This makes the program financially accessible while prompting the community to work together.

how it works

healthy pour is offering a 6-part mental health training for individuals and groups working in the hospitality or hospitality adjacent industries en masse through a collective pricing model and scholarships.

Training will be available through zoom multiple times a day throughout the end of the year—individuals can choose a time the attend that works with their schedule. As we enter 2022, these trainings will be available through self-led online module in both English and Spanish, and can be completed at each individual’s convenience.

collective shift courses

  • Mental Health in Hospitality: an Overview

  • Emotional Intelligence, Literacy, & Agility

  • Talking About Mental Health in the Workplace

  • Understanding Stress & Coping

  • Hospitality's Relationship with Alcohol & Other Substances

  • Intro to Psychological Safety

how to get in on this

  • 1. talk to your colleagues and leaders

To be honest, this program can only really work in the workplace if there is buy-in from everyone: ownership, front of house, back of house, managers…everyone. I mean, any kind of mental health training helps, but getting everyone on board is key to making moves.

  • 2. connect with other groups

We all know people, right? We have colleagues we used to work with, favorite spots we hang out at, former employers, and neighbors—let them know about this program and enlist them to join your collective! Remember, the more groups who join each collective, the more affordable it becomes.

  • 3. form your collective

Once you’ve enlisted your network (yay!) fill out the Collective Submission form

  • 4. confirm participation

Now that your collective is formed, each group will need to fill out the Single Organization Submission Form. Sorry to be so bureaucratic with all the forms, but this will help us to schedule and plan when and how often we offer classes.

  • 5. get started!

Once you and your collective are enrolled, we’ll send you invoices, individual sign-up instructions, a social media packet (if you want to share that you’re offering your teams such an awesome benefit), then we’ll be well on our way!

How much does it cost?

Each collective costs $10,000. So, if you’re the only group in your collective, it’s $10k. If there are 2 groups, it’s $5k each. If you have 20 (the maximum) is only $500 each. Pretty sick.

What if I’m not working right now or I want to sign up on my own? What then?!

ANYONE can sign up to participate—you don’t have to be a part of a collective. Each individual training is $100, but keep an eye out on Instagram because we’ll be giving away a ton of scholarships.

Is this limited to bars & restaurants?

Absolutely not! This is available to, honestly, whoever wants in on it. Brands, distilleries, wineries, breweries, distributors, NPO’s, theaters…anyone. We just want people trained!

When you say “group,” what does that mean?

Group means one outlet. So, if you’re a restaurant group with 25 different restaurants, each restaurant would be considered a group.

If you’re a hotel or brand with multiple outlets or teams within your organization, let’s chat about what that looks like. The goal is to get people trained up, but this program is already generous as can be, so we need to be reasonable, yeah?

Can I donate to help fund scholarships?

Yes. Yes you can.

You can either donate directly to Healthy Pour through the button below, which is totally awesome and appreciated, or you can make a donation through one of out non-profit partners to help support their mission and provide scholarships for their community. If you’d like to donate through one of our partnerships, please reach out to laura@healthypour.org
